Sites About Bipolar Disorder

These are sites that are primarily about bipolar disorder.  When you're so happy you could kill yourself.   You've just bought every single thing on eBay imaginable regarding your world-conquering project, only to plunge into the depths of despair when one of the things doesn't quite fit into your nebulous plans and the bills for your maxed-out credit cards are now due.  Where do you go to figure out what the fuck to do now?

McMan's Depression and Bipolar Web - If there's anyone else out there who's covering the bipolar beat in a way similar to mine, it's John McManamy.  Cutting through the bullshit and getting right to the heart of the matter of affective mood disorders (or "the differently ordered moods" as one correspondent of mine called them), you'll find the best collection of articles, studies, and news reports anywhere.  And not just collected, but summarized in a way that regular people can understand.  If you find my style too over the top for your taste, or not focused enough on bipolar and/or depression, this is the site to read.  Even if you like this site you should still read John's.  Highly recommended by anyone and everyone who really knows their shit about the ups and downs of bipolar disorder.

Brainstorm:  Your Pediatric Bipolar InfoSource  Absolutely fantastic and vital resource for all of you parents out there with bipolar children.  This is the no bullshit place to go for information on meds, treatments, dealing with doctors and schools and just dealing with more than one life ravaged by an illness that is hard enough to be comprehended by an adult who has it.  The forum is moderately active, but well worth being involved with if your kid is on the bipolar rollercoaster and/or med-go-round.

About.com's Bipolar Page - I used to hang out on the fora a lot, where I  was the co-host of the Medications folder and former host of the News & Information folder on the main forum.  The support and information here is the amongst the best.  It's one of the best free sites I've seen, and that's why I was there often until Crazy Meds took over my life.  You'll find tons of quality information about meds, articles on how to deal with symptoms, get along with your day to day living, find the right doctors and so forth.

A Silver Lining - an in-depth site that covers a great deal of territory - the medical, the psychological, the creative, the news and the humor of bipolar disorder.  Health On the Net compliant.

Dr. Ivan's Depression Central - More like mood disorder central.  Depression and bipolar.  If you think my web design skills are lacking...But no matter, content is what is important.  Especially from a real doctor.  If it has to do with a mood disorder and you've wanted to ask your doctor what might be some stupid question, don't waste your money or your time, Dr. Ivan might already have the answer for you.

The Depression & Bipolar Support Alliance   - All the differently ordered mood people in one place.  It's mostly advocacy and support, but, hey, we need that too.

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Bipolare Störungen - Germany's depression & bipolar support alliance.  Information on meds and therapies, doctor locator, a support forum and chat.  Alles in Deutsche.

????????? - ???! - my Russian is not being so good, but I am thinking that is looking like "Depression - NO!"  I have no idea about the quality or stance of this site, all I can tell is that they discuss depression, bipolar, other psychiatric issues and meds.  Plus links to online tests, the DSM and other psychology sites in Russian.

Bipolar Focus - a web community dedicated to providing high quality information, support and education to the consumers, family members, caregivers and other individuals who's lives have been impacted by bipolar disorder (Manic Depression). The site was initiated after many requests from visitors to the site schizophrenia.com for a site like schizophrenia.com but focused on bipolar disorder.  Mostly links to other sites and not that much original content, but they are quality links that help you put the pieces of bipolar together in a meaningful way.  They're especially good for news that's important to the bipolar community.

Open Directory of Bipolar Sites - A couple hundred of them.  From the manically wacky to drug company fronts.

There's also our page of Bipolar Support Groups

Bipolar Disorder in the News

Support Groups in the News

Please, if you know of any sites with quality information for people with differently ordered moods send me an e-mail to jerod23 at gmail dot com and I'll check them out.  Even if you're starting your own let me know.  There's no guarantee I'll list it, but you never know.  English language is not a requirement.  All I ask is that you don't have to register first to look at the site.

The Overlords of the 12 Zernox Galaxies have compelled me through messages in the Sunday Chronicle to beg you for spare change.  So if this site has been of use and/or amusement to you, please see if you could

or visit the Donation Page if PayPal isn't your style.  Or our Mental Mall to make a purchase.  Better yet, if you run a business and want to advertise on Crazy Meds, see our page on ad rates and policies.  I'm all about fiscal transparency, so follow the money for full disclosure of my pitiful finances.

Hey, did you find this page all by itself through Google or some other search engine? Great! But to really appreciate the entire site, you need to start here.

All rights reserved. No warranty is expressed or implied in this information. Consult one or more doctors and pharmacists before taking, or changing how you take any neurological and/or psychiatric medication. Your mileage may vary. What happened to us won't necessarily happen to you. Nobody on this site is a doctor, therapist, or a pharmacist. We don't portray them either here or on TV. Only doctors can diagnose and treat an illness. Some doctors tend to get pissed off by patients who know too much about medications, so tread lightly when and where appropriate. Diagnosing yourself from a website is like defending yourself in court, you suddenly have a fool for a doctor. Don't be a cyberchondriac, thinking you have every disease you see a website about, or that you'll get every side effect from every medication. Self-prescribing is just as dangerous.  All information on this site has been obtained through personal experience, the experiences of my friends, the experiences of people reported on online support groups, and from sources that are referenced throughout the site.  Know your sources!  As such the information presented here is not a substitute for real medical advice from your real doctor, just a compliment to it.  No neurologists, psychiatrists, therapists or pharmacists were harmed in the production of this website. All brand names of the drugs listed in this site are the trademarks of the companies listed after them in the pages about the drugs, even though those companies may or may not have been acquired by other companies who may or may not be listed in this site by the time you read this. Always read the PI sheet that comes with your medications and never ever throw them away.  If you didn't get a PI sheet, demand one.  Loudly.  Crazy Meds is not responsible for the content of sites we provide links to.  We like them, or they're paid advertisements, or they're something you should read to make an informed decision about a particular med.  Sometimes they're more than one of those things.  But what's on those sites is their business, not ours.  Very little information about visitors to this site is collected or saved. And from time to time I do look at search terms used to find it in an effort to make the information I present more relevant. Use only as directed. Void where prohibited.
